What is Genre?

This post consist about the summary on the lesson learning about genre

Genre is a type of category that is used to categorised something to describe a thing or what is it about. Like sci-fi, romance, and many more, in music as well they have their genre like rock, pop, RnB and many more. 
    Inside genre there is another sub topic which is called as Genre convention, which gives more detail / code about what is in certain genre. For example in horror genre, the genre convention in the movie would have jump scares, ghost,  death, sudden creaking noises and many more. This is used to help give a detail which can be use as a ... about the genre which tells the audience what they could expect in this sort of genre and also with genre it helps the producer to pick out details about the genre that they could use inside their movie in order to attract audience. 

For further exercise on my study about genre, I have chosen one movie trailer which is the newest The Garfield Movie which just came out in 2024. 

This movie genre is family and animated which the genre convention in this movie is all of the characters are 3d animated and in this movie it uses a lot of sound effect which makes the movie more alive, in the movie they didn't have any plot where the characters were in very serious situation which it is still family friendly that fits the family genre. 

The audience for this movie can vary from children to young adult, ranges from the age of 5 to 20s. This movie. I think that it varies because this character in the movie which is Garfield has been well known over many years which is why when this new movie is being published it still catches the old fans of this movie. 

The audience are appeal to the advertisement from the plot that they show parts from inside the movie, for example a sudden meet for Garfield to meet his father, the plot where Garfield was still young and etc. These plots show how the movie could interest audience so they would want to know what happens next in the movie. 

Reflection: From this lesson about genre I have learn more about how advertisement on movies work and what kind of choices they use for the advertisement, just like it is said; everything we see on ads are not accidents. This gives me more ideas on what I can do for the upcoming project.
